The beginning of the class has been a little hectic. Mostly because I am familiarizing myself with new applications that I haven't used in the past and the format of the class. It always seems to go this way in the beginning and then I find my groove and am able to more effectively navigate. LOL This semester I am also finding myself teaching more and more professional development courses on tech integration. I guess my district discovered what I can do and now they are using it. I think this class will greatly prepare me for the upcoming PD courses I will be teaching. I am already going to teach one on creating PLEs.
I was very confused on how to successfully complete the discussions in the class. I am still not completely sure if I am doing the discussions correctly.
Our group has been successful in helping each other when needed. We have also been able to communiate effectively.

ETC 647 Reflection/Group 6
ReplyDeleteQuick start to this semester here on the NAU campus. Between my staff responsibilities, adjunct Faculty for 2 classes and Graduate studies, there is not time for much of anything else. My passion for Scouting is being pushed in the rear spot light for now.
647 is a challenging course because of the exposure to new and different Web 2.0 tools. The simulation for many social networking tools are proving to be time consuming. Although it is a labor of love, I can truly say navigation of the applications is intense. Sometimes I feel hours have slipped away during a study session and no progress is shown for it. management is the key. iGoogle is the only way to use what is required to make sense of all the content.
Group rolls are forming. I must say I have had nothing but great experiences in my group situations in the ETC program. Lucky, maybe but I look forward to working in groups because of the interaction learning environment. I see this class as being no different. Personalities are flowing and leadership rolls are forming.
Connectivisim is our focus point in lesson 2 in order to being web 2.0 tools into context. Relating these tools to the concept is not an easy task for me. I find myself constantly focusing on what the tools do in-order to support student centered learning and how self motivation is a factor for the tool. It is this exploration of the concept that will decide if it will make a foot hold as a legitimate social theory. I suspect this to be true to any new and emerging theories.

Yes, we have to manage our own learning environment. It is not like Vista does all management for us. Learning management requires higher cognitive thinking and learning order. Frequently, we are not ready for this learning challenge.

Technology is more than just for motivation. In fact, it influence how and what we process information.

They can be very time consuming. In lesson 2 we covered Emerging network technologies which focus on the characteristics of Connectivism. It is not just any technology. It should be networked and participatory within social interaction and learning aspect. I hope your group has identified one emerging technology for you Networking Learning Training.
